The people behind Youthfund are a board of young people aged between 14 and 24. They assess, grant or decline  applications based on the Youthfund criteria and attend and report on funded events and projects.

The purpose of Youthfund is to nurture and support youth initiatives which promote leadership, partnership, responsibility, community involvement and positive change.

We are looking for board members with a wide range of skills and interests. Ideally the group will represent areas of sport, culture, art and a variety of other interests.

Board Member Roles and Responsibilities

  • Board members need to be responsible, reliable and able to commit to meeting approximately every 2-3 weeks. This role requires a reasonably high level of commitment and enthusiasm.
  • Board members need to be considerate to the needs and wishes of others with different interests to themselves.
  • Flexibility in thinking is desirable as this is a new project and changes in setup, implementation and structure may be   necessary as we gain experience and history.
  • Members are required to take a certain level of ownership of funded projects from time to time – this does not mean jumping in and running the project, but being a point of contact, taking an interest and completing a report following the event.
  • Board members should be professional in their reference to and representation of Youthfund.
  • Board members would need to commit to the Youthfund Board for a period of at least 1 year (excluding exceptional circumstances).
  • Must be available for fortnightly meetings on Monday nights
